Health & Social Care BTEC Foundation National Diploma Level 3

Working within the Health and Social Care sector you need to be kind, caring and compassionate. The level 3 BTEC course provides you with the knowledge and understanding you will need to thrive in a Health and Social Care based career. This course is designed to provide a holistic programme of applied and general learning related to the occupational areas of Health Care and Social Care.
On completion of the programme you will have the option of progressing to further or higher study, choosing from a range of specialisms, or finding employment.
Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we will seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector through work experience and enrichment workshops.

You will look into a range of different units such as Human Growth and Development and Meeting Individual Care Needs, you will explore opportunities to promote Equality and Diversity through knowledge and skills and analyse the human body and its functions in Anatomy and Physiology. You will delve into a research project, focusing on your chosen topic and explore the growth and development of Public Health.

Five GCSE’s at grade 9 – 4, including English, Maths and preferably Science

You will be internally assessed through internal assignments, external assessments, research projects, presentations and practical work alongside work experience.

After you have completed the programme, you could progress on to a Higher Education course at College or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4). Check out opportunities at the University of Bolton by visiting www.bolton.ac.uk
Following further study you could work as a:


• Midwife, earning up to £44,000 per year
• Physiotherapist, earning up to £44,000 per year
• Occupational Therapist, earning up to £62,000 per year

You'll have your own Learning Development Mentor (LDM) and Work Placement Officer, helping you create both academic and career plans.

Exposure to employers is also an integral part of this programme – we'll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-word experience of your sector, either on short work experience or an extended Industry placement.
