Level 2 Extended Certificate in ICT

The digital sector contributes nearly £151 billion to the economy, and is flourishing increasing year by year. Therefore, providing increasingly varied and interesting career opportunities IT for your future.

Courses are delivered by tutors with a wealth of specialist skills, based on years of industry experience and academic status.

This Level 2 IT course allows you to build on skills that you have learnt previously and is a great progression course to continue your journey. Throughout the course you will delve into the online world, examining hardware and software, the importance of computer and cyber security and design your own digital portfolio to present to future employers.

Within your Level 2 IT course you will cover units on:
- The Online World
- Technology Systems
- Installing and Maintaining Computer Hardware
- Creating Digital graphics
- Computer Security in Practice
- Database Development
- Creating a digital portfolio

You will also build on employability skills such as punctuality, attendance, communication and teamwork.
Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life
Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

Unit 1 and Unit 2 (The Online World and Technology Systems) are assessed through an online exam that is externally marked. We will enter you for this exam in January/ February/ March when you are ready.

All other units are assessed throughout the year through set assignments that are marked by your tutor.

Work will be graded at a Pass, Merit of Distinction level.

After you have completed the Level 2 and passed the course, you could look into progressing onto one of the following:

- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT
- T-level in Digital Design and Development - Computer Progamming
- T-level in Digital Support - Cyber Security/ Networking
- Level 3 apprenticeship (Data technician, IT solutions technician, multi-channel marketer)

Which could lead on to the following jobs:
• Computer Systems Developer
• Games Designer
• IT Support Engineer
• IT Technician
• Network Engineer
• Software Developer
• Web and App Designer

Exposure to employers is also an integral part of this programme – we'll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-word experience of your sector, either on short work experience or an extended Industry placement.
