  • Overview of the course

    This course will be based at the Deane Road Campus and is aimed at learners who feel that they may struggle to engage with education due to their mental health needs. The aim of the course is to build learners confidence to engage in education and develop skills needed for life and work.
  • What you'll learn

    The curriculum will focus on building confidence, self-esteem and motivation through a creative curriculum including creative and enterprise projects as well as developing employability skills.

    Maths and English is included as part of the programme, as well as enrichment, work experience either external or via youth social action projects and a weekly tutorial with their learning and development mentor.
  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements but we will ask learners to complete a maths and English assessment before joining the course so that we can assess the learning level in these subjects. Learners need to be aged 16 to 18 years old.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course. You will build up a portfolio of evidence which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress through your Individual Learning Plan. Learners will work towards end of year exams in maths and English.
