  • Overview of the course

    This course is for anyone interested in gaining qualifications and experience in the Health & Social care sector and includes a work placement with a local employer. The course is designed to teach the practical knowledge, skills and confidence to progress onto a further course within College or voluntary work, and will include a supported work placement.
  • What you'll learn

    Learners will study a range of topics including: mental health awarenes; health and safety in the workplace; human growth and development; safeguarding vulnerable adults and children; career options; and equality and diversity.

    The course also includes maths and English Functional Skills, employability skills and the opportunity to complete a work placement with a local employer for 30 hours.
  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements but we will ask you to complete a maths and English assessment before joining the course so that we can assess your learning level in these subjects. You will also need to complete a DBS form; this will allow you to work with both children and adults for your work placement.
  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is on-going throughout the course and you will receive prompt and detailed feedback from your tutor on all the work you complete. You will build a portfolio of evidence to be submitted with your tutor assessments at the end of the course. You will also work towards end of year exams in maths and English.
