    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.

    This is a one-year course designed to give you a nationally recognised qualification in make-up – providing the knowledge, skills and understanding required to gain employment within the industry.

    This course combines practical work with related theory in preparation for fashion, theatrical and TV make-up. You will develop skills including special effects and prosthetic making. This course will also develop your communication and personal skills, which are essential for this line of work.

    Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.

    • Airbrush Make-up to the Face
    • Fashion and Photographic Make-up
    • Wig Work
    • Creative Hair Design
    • Media Make-up
    • Application of prosthetics
    • Health & Safety

    You will also complete a 30 hour work placement
  • Entry requirements

    You will need to have already gained a qualification in Hair & Media Make-up Level 2, Beauty Therapy Level 2, Make-up Artistry Level 2 or Hairdressing Level 2.

  • Future opportunities

    After you have completed the programme, you could progress on to a Higher Education course at College or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4). Check out opportunities at the University of Bolton by visiting www.bolton.ac.uk

    Following further study you could work as a:

    • Make-up Artist, earning up to £45,000 per year
    • TV or Film Production Assistant, earning up to £30,000
    • Media Researcher, earning up to £40,000
