    The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction will prepare learners for
    appropriate direct employment in the vocational sector and it is suitable for those who
    have decided that they clearly wish to enter a particular specialist area of work. It is
    broadly equivalent to three A Levels.

    During this course you will learn aspects of Constrcution and Civil Engineering such as
    Planning Procedures, Analytical Methods, Construction and the Environment,
    Construction Science and Materials, Graphical Detailing, Surveying Processes, Health,
    Safety and Welfare, Construction Technology and Design, Environmental Science,
    Building Technology, Structural Mechanics, Planning and Organisation, Conversion & Adaptation, Economics, Setting Out Processes, Building Surveying,
    Building Regulations, Computer Aided Design and Iinformation and Communication
    Technology.
  • Entry requirements

    Entry onto the course is by achieveing three GCSEs at grades A-C or 4 and above (Mathematics, English
    and a Science). Or completion of the 90 Credit Diploma in Construction & The Built Environment.

    Assessment is through individual assignments, coursework and group projects, which
    will be used to continually assess the learners throughout the year.

    Apprentices do not need to pay for their course; course fees will be paid for by funding accessed by the College and in some cases, employer contribution.

  • Future opportunities

    Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto a Higher National
    Certificate or Diploma in Construction or Civil Engineering and a professional career in
    Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Management, Building Surveying, Site Surveying
    and Estate Management. Most universities will accept learners at degree level if the
    results are of an adequate grade.

    Coronavirus Update


    In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
    All conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
    Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

    Studying at College

The proportion of these hours will depend on the individual qualification(s) being undertaken. You must do the work set during directed study or it will impact your progress on the course and therefore your achievement.
