Hairstyling with Make up

If you are aged 19+ and have a keen interest in hairdressing and make up with a desire to achieve a professional qualification, then this fast moving intensive hairdressing and make up course is for you.
This course is delivered at our Hub centre New Bury Community Learning Centre.

The course consists of both practical and theory aspects of hairdressing and make up. You will study a variety of topics related to hairdressing and make up, the units of study include:
You will learn a range topics, including the following:
• Perform basic make-up applications.
• Personal presentation
• Hair up
• Use of a variety of electricals
You will also develop skills setting, styling and maintaining health and safety.

You should be highly motivated, have good dexterity skills and be able to work well as part of a team. You must show commitment to the course and be able to maintain an excellent level of attendance and punctuality.

You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course. You will build up a folder of work which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress through your Individual Learning Plan.

This course is part-time for 19+ learners, who must attend 3 hours per week for 7 weeks. You are required to wear black trousers, black top and flat black shoes, we will provide all tools and equipment for the duration of the course.
You will be required to carry out treatments on your peers.
You will be expected to have a minimum of 95% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor.
.A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.

You can progress onto further courses in Hairdressing, Make Up or Beauty Therapy. There are also other income generation courses that would be very exciting to attend including Fast track certificate in hairdressing and Level 2 Barbering.
You can progress onto a Level 1 accredited course within the community to increase upon your knowledge and skills.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult Learners

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested.
