Cake Decoration Basic Modelling

  • Overview of the course

    This 4 week course is for the more experienced cake decorator, at an intermediate level we will work with various pastes to produce sitting, standing and armatured models which could be used to decorate and enhance a cake.

    The course will introduce you to:
    - Use of equipment, tools and materials used in the production models
    - Production of people models and animal models from modelling pastes

    Many of our learners come to study with us as we have industry-experienced tutors who have showcased learners work at Cake International (Bolton College won 'Best College & Group Display') and has also been featured in the National Press (Vogue Magazine).


  • What you'll learn

    On this course you will learn how to produce basic sitting and standing models from modelling pastes. We will make various characters of people and/or animals. The models made could be used as decorative pieces or be added to a celebration cake.
  • Entry requirements

    Some basic knowledge of cake decoration is required, you must have a keen interest in the subject and basic literacy skills.
  • How will I be assessed?

    There is no formal assessment on this course. You will receive feedback, support and guidance from your tutor. Your learning will be supported through practical activities, discussions, paired/individual and group tasks and worksheets.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    - Learners are expected to provide their own materials and equipment.
    - Learners will be given a list at the start of the course.
    - As it is intended that the items produced on the course are for eating, learners are expected to wear an apron, have appropriate flat, closed footwear and have long hair tied back.
    - A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.

    Please not there is no baking on this coure and it is solely cake decoration.
