    Sports Therapy has been a growing industry over the past 20 years being recognised for its involvement in maintaining good health and helping individuals with varied injuries and disorders within the sports field.

    This course will provide you with knowledge of the principles of Sports Therapy Massage and how to practice Sports Therapy Massage in a commercial setting.

    You'll learn the theory behind Sports Therapy Massage, how to deal with clients and plan effective treatments. You will also learn how to reflect upon the outcomes of a treatment, provide aftercare and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. This in-depth Sports Therapy Massage study programme explores the history of massage, relevant massage movements and Fitness Testing. You will be taught specific Sports Therapy Massage techniques, the benefits and contra-indications of Sports Therapy Massage and the management of soft tissue injuries.

    This Diploma enables you to practice as a therapist and supports the acquisition of public liability insurance. The course is comprehensive in its delivery of both theory and practical elements. Within the course you will need to complete case studies, assignments and exams.

    You need to show good communication and life skills.

    A good general education is essential for this demanding course - an excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through assignment work, oral questions, practical assessments, case studies and an anatomy and physiology exam.

    The practical module requires you to complete case studies at home. It is your responsibility to document, evidence and provide your own clients for these. Case studies are an invaluable way to develop and enhance your performance within the industry.

    The course requirements need to be completed in order for you to achieve your qualification.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    Additional costs to the course consist of a professional uniform.

    Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include visits and extra external professional development courses, which are payable by all students.

    The course begins in September and finishes in July.

    The Sports industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Salon. No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed. Professional work wear will include a black polo shirt and smart full-length black track suit with a full white or black trainer.

    You will purchase stationery for the course and produce a portfolio.

    As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee, with discounted rates for friends and family.

    You will be expected to have a minimum of 90% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence. You will be required to attend extra classes.

    Coronavirus Update


    In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
    All conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
    Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

    Studying at College
