Digital Photography Award Level 1

This course is meant for those students who would like to gain a better understanding of their camera settings, develop composition skills and learn basic image manipulation skills on the computer. This course is designed to follow on from our beginners course - although advisable this may not be essential for all students.

Course contents:
- learning the use of a variety of camera settings for a range of situations
- using composition rules of photography and learning about visual language
- discussing/assessing photography within the group
- opening own photographs in Photoshop and using correction and retouching techniques
- creative use of Photoshop - eg. use of filters, converting to black & white etc.
- completing small projects throughout the course

- You will need your own digital camera & connecting USB lead or a card reader.
- You will need good basic computer skills - file management etc.
- You will need a file and wallets to keep a portfolio of evidence.
- Interview with tutors necessary - those who already have basic camera skills may be able to join without attending the beginners course following a short interview.

This an NCFE Level 1 course and all students are required to collect a portfolio of evidence throughout the year which covers 2 units of the qualification -

1. Use a camera to capture creative images
2. Digital image manipulation

Written and oral feedback will be given by the tutor throughout the year.

A memory stick would be useful for all students to bring to classes.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult Learners

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
