    This course is an excellent introduction to floristry skills covering all aspects of the floral craft. Each week you will develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in working with flowers and foliage.

    You will learn the basic skills of floristry including:
    - Care and conditioning of cut materials
    - Wired buttonholes
    - Designs in the mediums floral foam, moss and compost
    - Gift wrapping flowers & plants
    - Hand tied designs
    - Principles and elements of design
    - Health & Safety
  • Entry requirements

    An interest in working with flowers.
    Access to a camera to take photos of your work.
    You will need a folder, paper, pens and an apron.
  • How will I be assessed?

    1. Your portfolio of work - each week you will take pictures of your creations.
    2. A weekly diary of practical designs and evaluation.
    3. A project; design a buttonhole (one for a woman & one for a man).

    The average weekly cost of flowers and foliage is approximately £5 (this is not included in the course price).

    FOR YOUR FIRST CLASS - please bring one rose & one carnation and ivy or similar foliage.

    Learners who gain the Level 1 Certificate in Floristry may wish to progress to our Level 2 course.
    There are other higher qualifications particularly with other awarding bodies and your Tutor can tell you more about these.
    You may also wish to seek employment opportunities within the Floristry trade.

    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Adult Learners

    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
