    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
    This course has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to degree level study in art and design, into further education and training, or into employment.
    It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in the visual arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from further to higher education.
    It is generally delivered over two years and will allow students to apply for a range of higher education courses.

    This course offers two pathways:
    Art & Design with drawing, mixed media, printmaking, painting and three-dimensional design.
    Art & Design with drawing, mixed media, animation, graphic design and photography.

    You will also learn:
    • Different perspectives & approaches
    • Understanding & adapting practical methods and skills for creative production
    • Critically reviewing the effectiveness and appropriateness of methods, actions & results
    • Using evaluative & reflective skills
    • Research, planning, time management and actions to access progression opportunities
    • Presenting yourself and your work to appropriate audiences
  • Entry requirements

    Five GCSEs grade 4 and above, (including English Language, Maths, Art or equivalent). Alternatively, you may have a UAL level 2 or equivalent qualification at Merit standard.
  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is via a ‘Final Major Project’ which takes place at the end of the course when you are at your best. This large project allows you to demonstrate the learning that has taken place through completion of other units. This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall qualification grade.

    This course may be free if you are aged 19-23 and do not already hold a full level 3, or higher, qualification.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial

    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
