ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages
If English is not your first language, our friendly classes at Deane Road and other centres can help with speaking, understanding, reading and writing English.
We will discuss your personal situation before you start, as we have classes for every level from beginners onwards (Entry 1 to Level 2). Our well-qualified teachers will help you to work towards national ESOL Skills for Life qualifications and learn about citizenship.
Our courses include:
ESOL with Numeracy
This entry level course will prepare for national qualifications in Numeracy as well as ESOL.
ESOL Level 1 and 2 Literacy
These courses are aimed at adult ESOL students who already speak good English.
ESOL Foundation
This is a full-time course for 16-18 year olds who need to improve their English before going on to other courses or to a job.
ESOL for Citizenship
This training prepares you for ESOL with Citizenship and gaining accreditation recognised by the UKBA.
ESOL for IELTS
IELTS preparation courses help you get onto a university course.
Further studies
If you want to study another subject in college we can help you with your English. Some courses are specially designed for this. We can also support you with your applications for University or other courses.
Course costs
ESOL courses are free for 16-18 year olds. Adults aged 19 or over have to pay course fees but the College offers discounts to help you if you are living in the UK. If you are on certain benefits or have a low income, your course may be free. All ESOL students have to pay an accreditation fee.
