Barbering student Kajwan Jabary and Hair & Make-up Artistry students Callum Stamp and Annalise Heald travelled to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens for a head-to-head battle against students from across the country, for the Association of Hairdressers & Therapists’ (AHT) annual competition. The students earned their places after coming first in the regional heats in February.
Barbering Level 2 student Kajwan Jabary confidently took first place in the barbering category, in just under 30 minutes. He wowed judges with a contemporary cut and finish on model Dominik Hlavac, a fellow barbering student.
Kajwan said: “I love being entered in to competitions like this; it’s great to take learning out of the classroom and this has to be the best event I’ve participated in.”
Callum Stamp and Annalise Heald were also triumphant, securing second place in the bridal category for their stunning 90 minute transformation of a fellow learner.
Callum and Annalise, both Hair & Make-up Artistry Level 2 students, said: “We’ve learnt so many news skills and techniques during our time at Bolton College; it prepared us well for this competition and to have our talent recognised makes us so happy.”
Sarah Bleackley, Bolton College’s Hairdressing Curriculum Leader, said: “This is such a prestigious event; students travelled from as far afield as the North East to be a part of it, and we just loved being involved.
“I couldn’t be prouder of these learners; not only did Kajwan win in his category, but the judges commented on his professionalism throughout the competition. Callum and Annalise are a dream team; they possess exceptional skills and they work so well together.”
