Overview of the course
This Level 2 course will allow you to develop and practise the skills required for employment within the barbering industry. It will introduce you to the discipline of a working environment and encourage you to reach a good level of knowledge and skills.
This programme has been designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
Our Barbering department has received ‘Approved Training Centre’ status from the British Barbers’ Association, the UK’s leading association for barbering.
Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.
What you'll learn
Topics on your Study Programme will include:
• Client Consultation for Hair Services
• Cut Men’s Hair
• Cut Facial Hair
• Colour and Lighten Hair
• Style Men’s Hair
• Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp
• Promote Products and Services to Clients in a Salon
• Follow Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
One GCSE at grade 3 or above, in Maths or English. We will also invite you for an informal interview and ask to see a satisfactory school reference.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed regularly throughout the programme through practical work, oral and written questions and assignments. You will also build a portfolio of your work.

Following further study you could work as a:
• Barber, earning up to £25,000 per year
• Salon Manager, earning up to £30,000 per year
• Assessor or Trainer, earning up to £30,000 per year
