Home Undergraduate Tuition Fee Adjustment
The tuition fee applicable to the first year of your programme of study is confirmed in your offer letter. The tuition fee set is based on the regulations and guidance in force at the time of offer but remains subject to adjustment in accordance with any government-approved inflationary increase. The University reserves the right to amend tuition fees for all years of study, including the first year, by no more than the maximum increase permitted under legislation and regulatory guidance issued by the UK Government and the Office for Students.
Where such increases are approved, they will not exceed the rate of inflation, as measured by an appropriate index such as the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), or any successor measure specified by government. The University will apply any adjustment consistently across affected student cohorts and will give reasonable notice to students of any confirmed change to the published fee before the start of the relevant academic year.
This approach ensures that tuition fees remain compliant with applicable legislation, proportionate to inflationary changes, and consistent with government policy linking permitted fee uplifts to the maintenance of high-quality education and outcomes. The varied nature of this HNC programme means that we use a wide range of teaching and learning methods. To ensure you acquire and develop the appropriate concepts, knowledge and skills, we combine timetabled classes with student-centred and independent learning. You can expect to attend lectures, practical sessions, workshops, tutorials and informal group study sessions. There will also be opportunities to go on site visits to view state-of-the-art projects, and attend guest lectures by specialists from industry, professional bodies or other academic institutions.
There are significant opportunities to spend time with the tutors and technicians during timetabled classes, practical work and tutorials. However, we'll still expect you to devote a significant amount of time to personal study. For example, this time might be spent engaging in general background reading, revisiting practical work, attending technical meetings and lectures provided by professional bodies or working on assignments. We use a range of assessment methods depending on the learning outcome in question and the type of module content being assessed. You'll have opportunities to test your understanding of subjects informally before you complete the formal assessments that count towards your final mark or grade. Each module/unit will normally contain at least one piece of practice or 'formative' assessment for which you'll receive feedback from your tutor. Practice assessments are developmental, and any grades/marks you receive for them do not count toward your module/unit mark or grade. There is formal or 'summative' assessment for each module/unit. Methods include a range of assessments such as exams, essays, reports, portfolios, presentations, and a final year major project. If you are a student wishing to apply for an Enrolment & Attendance Certificate to help with your claim for a Council Tax discount or, you are a parent/carer needing a Certificate to help with your claim for Child or Housing Benefit please complete the form below.
All Certificates will be emailed directly to the relevant Council department. You must provide us with the correct email address for the Council department asking for the information. If you are a learner aged over 18, we may need to contact your Tutor regarding the number of hours you study.
Please note: the details on the form below must match the information we have on your learner (or child’s learner) record. If it does not, we may be unable to produce a Certificate. However, we will contact you if this happens. We cannot produce Certificates until you/your child has been attending classes for at least 4 consecutive weeks.

Bolton College Job Shop is a resource for employers to share vacancies they are currently recruiting for. Vacancies are displayed on the College’s vacancies pages as well as on the interactive screens located in the heart of our Job Shop, access by our students and members of the public.
Applicants interested in any of the vacancies will be able to apply using the Job Shop’s computers. Vacancies will also be shared with Bolton College’s talent pool – students who have already expressed an interest in a vacancy and are seeking work.
Employers can also liaise with the Job Shop’s Employer Engagement Advisors to identify gaps in their recruitment and/or workforce. Working together, learning opportunities will be identified from the College’s course offer, thereby addressing and helping to close any skills gaps.
