Sweet Cakes and Bakes
This is an 8-week introductory course to introduce the learners to a variety of baking skills. The course will provide basic skills to support a learner in starting on their baking journey and strengthen learning for those with lower-level knowledge.
The course will introduce learners to basic skills working with cake based products, biscuits, traybakes and afternoon tea treats, producing goods to a saleable finish.
– You will gain knowledge of good hygiene practices and how to implement these in the classroom.
– The selection, storage and care of tools and equipment and storage or materials and ingredients will be discussed during practical sessions.

There is no formal assessment on this course. You will receive feedback support and guidance from your tutor. Your learning will be supported through practical activities, discussions, paired/individual and group tasks and worksheets.

- Learners are expected to provide their own materials and equipment.
- Learners will be given a list at the start of the course.
- As it is intended that the items produced on the course are for eating, learners are expected to wear an apron, have appropriate flat, closed footwear and have long hair tied back.
- A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.
