What You'll Learn
You will learn about the following topics:
• You will define the term ‘mental wellbeing’ and identify the importance of relaxation for wellbeing.
• You will explore and practise some simple relaxation techniques which can effectively improve mental wellbeing, such as deep breathing exercises and meditation.
• You will also explore and practise various active relaxation techniques to help improve mental wellbeing, such as progressive muscle relaxation exercises, therapeutic art exercises and mindful nature walks.
• You will define the term ‘mental wellbeing’ and identify the importance of relaxation for wellbeing.
• You will explore and practise some simple relaxation techniques which can effectively improve mental wellbeing, such as deep breathing exercises and meditation.
• You will also explore and practise various active relaxation techniques to help improve mental wellbeing, such as progressive muscle relaxation exercises, therapeutic art exercises and mindful nature walks.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Bolton College recognises the achievements of its learners by presenting them with a certificate at the end of the course, rewarding their efforts and celebrating the skills that they have acquired.
Entry Requirements
To join the course, you MUST be 19 or over with an interest in improving your wellbeing. Regular attendance and a basic level of English skills are also required of all learners.

Future Opportunities
Progression onto other health and wellbeing courses within the positive steps programme is available to all learners. Specific courses include: Mindfulness, Aromatherapy, Creative Crafts, Building Resilience and Creative Writing for wellbeing. It is also especially important that learners on Wellbeing courses are encouraged to progress to other areas of curriculum and Julie Barlow, the Mental Wellbeing Mentor will be invited to meet the learners in the group to discuss progression opportunities with them.
