Cake Decoration Wedding Cakes
This 4 week course is for the more experienced cake decorator, at an intermediate level we will produce a tiered wedding cake and cupcakes using the styles which are on trend for the current wedding season.
The course will introduce you to:
– Use of equipment, tools and materials used in the production of tiered cakes.
– Working on the design elements of producing a wedding cake.
– Working buttercream to produce decorative cupcakes.
Many of our learners come to study with us as we have industry-experienced tutors who have showcased learners work at Cake International (Bolton College won ‘Best College & Group Display’) and has also been featured in the National Press (Vogue Magazine).

What You'll Learn
Whilst on the course we will design and make a 3 tier wedding cake as a class discussing and agreeing the learning outcomes together. This course will be bespoke to what you, the learners want to learn, should that be making and using cake lace, simple wedding toppers or painting on cakes. Once the cake is complete we will then produce a selection of decorative cupcakes to compliment the design of the finished wedding cake.
How Will I Be Assessed?
You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course, which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress.
Entry Requirements
Learners must have some basic knowledge and experience of cake decoration as well as having successfully completed the Introduction to Cake Decoration course or the Cake Decoration Level 1 course.

Future Opportunities
Learners successfully completing this short course to a good standard may apply for a place on the NCFE Level 1 or Level 2 Cake Decoration Award courses if not already achieved should they wish to gain a qualification. The NCFE qualifications enable learners to work in industry or develop a private business.

- The equipment list will be emailed to learners by the tutor 3 weeks before the start of the course. No equipment is supplied or provided by the college.
- As it is intended that the items produced on the course are for eating, learners are expected to wear an apron, have appropriate flat, closed footwear and have long hair tied back.
