What You'll Learn
You’ll develop a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes, including bookkeeping, processing invoices, handling payments, and using accounting software. You’ll also learn about financial regulations, data entry, and how to work effectively within a finance team.
In addition to technical skills, you’ll build confidence in communication, organisation, and problem-solving—key skills that are highly valued in any finance role.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Your progress will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through a combination of workplace observations, assignments, and a portfolio of evidence. You’ll receive regular feedback and support from your college tutor and employer.
At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). This includes a structured interview, a test of knowledge, and a review of your portfolio to confirm your competence and readiness to work independently in a finance assistant role.

Entry Requirements
You’ll usually need GCSEs at grade 3/D or above in English and Maths. However, individual employers may set their own entry criteria, so it’s important to check specific vacancy details.
If you don’t already have Level 1 English and Maths, you’ll be supported to achieve these qualifications during your apprenticeship, and work towards Level 2 before completing the programme.
