What You'll Learn
You’ll learn how to measure and value construction work, prepare cost estimates, manage budgets, and assist with tendering and procurement processes. The course also covers construction law, health and safety, sustainability, and the use of digital tools such as cost management software and BIM.
In addition to technical knowledge, you’ll develop strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills—essential for working effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams.

How Will I Be Assessed?
You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through a combination of practical tasks, written assignments, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will support you in developing your skills and tracking your progress.
At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). This includes a work-based project, a professional discussion, and a review of your portfolio to demonstrate your competence and readiness to work independently as a quantity surveying technician.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in construction and a desire to work in a technical and financial role. This programme is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, numerate, and keen to develop a career in quantity surveying.
However, some employers may set their own entry requirements, such as specific GCSEs, A-levels, or a relevant Level 3 qualification. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship. After completing this apprenticeship, you could progress into roles such as Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Assistant, or Cost Technician. You may also choose to continue your studies with a higher-level apprenticeship or a degree in quantity surveying or construction management.
