Basic Computer/Digital Skills for Work & Life
The course aims are to develop the knowledge and understanding to navigate and locate information on the Internet and communicate effectively via email. You will also create, retrieve, edit, save and print a variety of MS documents (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) which will provide an insight into document display techniques for everyday use. We will show you how to make your documents look professional and have fun whilst creating them. The course will also provide you with an understanding of how to be responsible and minimising the physical stress whilst working online.

Overview
The course aims are to develop the knowledge and understanding to navigate and locate information on the Internet and communicate effectively via email. What You'll Learn
• Produce a variety of business documents (business letters, posters, menus and letterhead templates) using the correct layout and effective proofread techniques.
• Edit and format a word-processed document (use at least 5 different techniques from the Home tab) also well as inserting images and tables.
• Create a variety of spreadsheets workbooks suitable for both work and home use.
• Use a range of formulas to calculate data correctly – addition, multiplication, subtraction, division, average, autosum etc.
• Create presentations using a range of design techniques (use a variety of display techniques i.e. themes, transitions, animations etc.
• Create, save, edit, retrieve and print documents.
• Communicate via email: compose, reply, forward and attach documents.

How Will I Be Assessed?
You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course. You will build up a folder of work evidence that will demonstrate the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress through your Individual Learning Plan.
