    The qualification aims to provide learners with the suitable knowledge, guidance, support and understanding that everyone has the right to learn, to be safe and to be respected. Learners will be able to make sure that they are being provided with a safe and secure learning environment that promotes their health and wellbeing.
    This will enable them and their peers to take responsibility for their own and others’ safety and be able to enjoy learning and progress in their lives.
    This is a knowledge-only qualification; therefore no real work environment placement is required.

    Learners will be looking at various issues and concepts relating to safeguarding, such as:
    Understanding the need for safeguarding in a learning environment
    Recognising abuse in a learning environment
    Staying safe online in a learning environment
    Staying safe in a work environment
  • Entry requirements

    There are no entry requirements for this course. However, a keen interest in safeguarding of children and young people would be advantageous. We also welcome learners from schools, nurseries and training providers for CPD.
    You maybe required to undertake an informal discussion with your tutor to check on suitability for this course.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed by a variety of methods from worksheets, scenarios, written work which culminates into a portfolio of evidence.

    Due to the nature of the subject you will be analysing real/past case studies relating to the safeguarding of children and young people.

    Coronavirus Update


    In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
    All conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
    Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.
    Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in these unprecedented times.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

    Studying at College

The proportion of these hours will depend on the individual qualification(s) being undertaken. You must do the work set during directed study or it will impact your progress on the course and therefore your achievement.
