    This course is for anyone who may be considering a career in professional counselling or who wishes to enhance communication skills or develop knowledge and skills for use within the workplace.
  • What you'll learn

    The course will enable you to enhance and improve listening and verbal skills; provide a realistic understanding of the nature of vocational counsellor training; introduce students to experiential learning processes. This course will encourage self awareness, confidence and self-esteem. It will prepare students to move onto Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills It will deliver underpinning knowledge in such a way as to help directly in the world of work; provide an understanding of the importance of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Conduct and Ethical Practice.
  • Entry requirements

    You will need a good level of literacy and an enthusiasm for engaging in the session activities. In most cases, you should have completed Find Out About Counselling and Level 1 Interpersonal Skills.
    If you have previous knowledge or work experience relating to counselling skills you may be able to start at Level 2 without having achieved the courses previously mentioned.
    You will need to complete an application form.
  • How will I be assessed?

    There are 3 units of assessment, all of which are internally assessed. Some work may be completed in class, with some completed at home. Unit 2 focuses on demonstration of skills and will be assessed internally by your tutor and peers.

    When you complete the Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts, you will be eligible to apply for Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills. Progression depends on relevant experience, satisfactory references and an interview as well as success at Level 2. Your tutor will advise you about your suitability to progress.

    Coronavirus Update


    In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
    All conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
    Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
