  • Entry requirements

    Learners must be 19 years and over
    Learners must demonstrate a commitment to learn and have the appropriate life skills. You will need the following:
    . Motivation
    . Friendly manner
    . The ability to work well as part of a team
    .References where necessary and appropriate.
    . Commitment to becoming a therapist.
    .You will need an excellent work ethic and commitment to high attendance of 95% and excellent punctuality standards.
    .You will need to be professional and discreet in all circumstances.
    . Good dexterity skills are paramount and this will be with a skills test.
    . You will need to enjoy working with other people and co-operate as part of a team.
    You need to be committed and keen to practice as you learn new skills and be willing to work within a team and on clients within a real working environment.
  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is carried out through a range of:
    Practical techniques
    Assignments in Make-up and Anatomy and Physiology
    Oral questioning
    You will be assessed while working in the college salons on your peers and real clients. The practical tasks are assessed and your achievements will be recorded in your logbook. You will carry out and complete pre-observations then a final assessment for the practical unit. Records of all the work undertaken should be kept to provide evidence of competence. These will form the basis of your portfolio. The final practical assessment will be graded pass, merit or distinction. As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. You will be required to carry out treatments on clients; this is an awarding body requirement. There is a lot to learn on this course. However, your tutor will be on hand to support you throughout the year and to help with any worries that you may have.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    You will need to be over 19 years of age to attend this course. The Beauty industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Beauty Salon. No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed.
    You will be required to carry out treatments on your peers and clients.
    You will be expected to have a minimum of 95% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor.

    Learners can progress onto further courses in Make Up or Beauty Therapy. There are also many short courses that would be very exciting to attend including Manicure, Pedicure, Eye treatments, Facial skin care and many more.

    Coronavirus Update


    In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
    All conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
    Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

    Studying at College

The proportion of these hours will depend on the individual qualification(s) being undertaken. You must do the work set during directed study or it will impact your progress on the course and therefore your achievement.
