College Life
Learning Support
All students are entitled to support for their studies.
At College we want you to get the most out of your course and have the best chance of gaining qualifications. If you are a student at Bolton Community College, or thinking of joining us, you can get extra help with your college work.
If you think you need extra help to succeed on your course, then Study Support might help. We can offer you the extra help you might need to succeed and develop your skills for the future. Our dedicated team can help with your additional needs, like:
- Maths, English and IT
- Study skills like essay-writing, note-taking and research skills
- Help with planning and organising your work and study skills
- Special assessment of your needs
- Specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Asperger's Syndrome
- Communicator support
- Technical equipment support
- Exam skills and support with concessions
Almost all students need some extra help at some point in their studies. We will try to identify this but it is helpful if you talk regularly to your individual tutor.
In addition you can:
- Indicate support needs on your College Application Form
- Ask when you receive guidance, at interview or enrolment
- Ask at the Guidance Centre or Reception at other centres
- Ask your tutor to contact Student Support at any point in your course
- Call into Room 116 at Manchester Road to have an informal discussion with experienced staff
The Student Support Team is based in Room 118 at the Manchester Road Centre. Contact the Carol Pearson or Chris Eccles on 01204 907365.
