Bolton College’s annual beauty showcase marked London 2012 in true style, as students unveiled Olympic themed make-up and nail designs to help celebrate the global sporting event.
More than 80 beauty and nail students from the college took part in the event. It included a parade around the college’s state-of-the-art Atrium, with models wearing clothes, make-up and nail designs to reflect the Olympics.
Prizes were awarded to the best makeovers on the day, judged by a panel that included: principal of Bolton College, Marie Gilluley; programme manager for hair, beauty and sports, Adele O’Keefe; curriculum leaders for hair and beauty, Sarah Bleakley and Vicki Gordon; Level 3 hair co-ordinator, Jill Shovelton; and apprenticeship co-ordinator for beauty, Jenny Martin.
All money raised at the event will be donated to the beauty department’s chosen charity, The Christie – the leading cancer research charity which raises funds to help provide additional services and undertake vital research for patients.
Tracy Stuart, a Beauty Lecturer at Bolton College, said: “The beauty showcase is always a great opportunity for students to work together to create fantastic looks, which wouldn’t look out of place in leading fashion magazines!
“The annual showcase is a celebration of everything the students have achieved so far this year and a perfect opportunity to mark the biggest event in this year’s sporting calendar with some eye-catching Olympic designs.”
