Bolton College lays foundations to success with Groundwork and Prince’s Trust
Bolton College is supporting a life-changing course for a group of unemployed youngsters in Bolton, which could put them on the pathway to success.
The unique programme, which will run for 12 weeks and start in February, is being delivered by local project coordinator, Groundwork, in conjunction with the Prince’s Trust.
The course aims to give a group of 16 to 25 year olds the opportunity to turn their lives around and fulfill their ambitions through a variety of activities including outdoor pursuits and work experience placements. They will also receive support with CV drafting, job search and interview training.
Those who take part will train and receive certificates in food hygiene, first aid and manual handling certificates. They will have the opportunity to improve basic numeracy and literacy skills, take part in team building exercises and co-ordinate a project to benefit their community.
Executive director for Groundwork Tony Taylor said: “I have particularly found our on-going discussions with the senior management of Bolton College an extremely positive experience and feel the combined strengths of both organisations bodes well.”
Sharon Marriott, Bolton College director of adult learning and higher education, added: “We’re very proud to be associated with the Prince’s Trust by supporting this fantastic initiative with Groundwork.
“These programmes provide a vital lifeline for individuals who may have previously slipped through the net. Those selected will benefit massively from this course, with practical support and advice geared at supporting them into work, education or training.”
