LGBT History Month has once again been a huge success at Bolton College.

Students and staff alike embraced the month’s activities, which included Human Libraries, talks in the lecture theatre by LGBT Diversity Champion Nick Buckley, a stall in the College’s Atrium supported by The Proud Trust and finally, an LGBT History Month quiz.

This year’s quiz winner was Ivan Varady, a Level 1 business student. Ivan correctly answered all 10 questions and was presented with a £20 voucher by Adam Myatt, one of the College’s LGBT Diversity Champions, who was instrumental in organising this year’s events.

The additional feedback box on the quiz cemented the College’s reputation as a LGBT-friendly learning environment - 100% of the participants stated that they had not witnessed or experienced any homophobic, biphobic of transphobic bullying within College, whilst 90% stated that they felt confident reporting LGBT bullying, should they witness or experience it.

Adam Myatt, who works in the College’s Admissions department, said, “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s LGBT History Month, especially our learners, the Learning Resource Centre staff and the Learning Development Mentors, who raised awareness of LGBT issues in their tutorials. The response to all of the activities was fantastic - I am so proud to work in such an inclusive College.”

Should you witness or experience any discriminative behaviour or bullying within College, immediately report this to your tutor, LDM or a member of staff. Alternatively, if you’d like to chat to our LGBT Diversity Champions, you can contact Adam Myatt at adam.myatt@boltoncc.ac.uk or Nick Buckley at nicholas.buckley@boltoncc.ac.uk
