Bolton College students star in music video

5 July 2019

Solomon Grey X Hectic Home Art

Three Bolton College Performing Arts students star in a new music video released today.

The aspiring actors stepped in front of the camera for Solomon Grey, a band whose latest album was declared ‘absolutely beautiful’ by BBC presenter Lauren Laverne. Their track ‘Home’ has been remixed by Hectic, a London-based music producer and remixer, and owner of music label, Cover the Earth.

In the video, Level 3 learners Mia Aspinall and Lewis Magee star as Daisy and Joe, whilst ex-Bolton College student Henry Whitehead took time out from his degree to play the character of Tom.

Filming took place over the course of two days in Bolton and Bromley Cross, whilst other scenes were shot inside the College’s performing arts theatre. Edd Lewis, the College’s theatre technician, filmed and edited the video in the College’s sound and editing studios.

The students were invited to star in the video thanks to acting tutor Kyle Cambray, who used his industry links to secure starring roles for the students.

Kyle, who recently starred in Spring & Port Wine at Bolton Little Theatre, said: “It’s really important that our learners develop their skills in a multitude of ways, so filming the music video has been a wonderful experience for Mia, Lewis and Henry.

“The finished video demonstrates their talent and versatility. I’d like to thank Solomon Grey and Hectic for giving us this opportunity and hopefully, we’ll be working with them on future projects.”

Mia Aspinall, who stars as Daisy, said: “I loved filming the video, and I’m really pleased with the finished result, it’s pretty special.”

Joe Kennedy from Solomon Grey said: “It is an absolute honour for us to have the performing arts students at Bolton College work with our music. We can’t wait to see the results and wish them all the best with their futures in the business.”

Hectic producer Tim Fitzpatrick said: “It was a great opportunity and pleasure to remix Solomon Grey and I hope I did the original justice. The talented students and staff at Bolton College have done an incredible job on the video and it’s a great visual representation for the track”.
