Teacher Training

Our courses provide teacher training for staff already employed in colleges, work-place providers or people wishing to work in the education sector.

Teachers in the post-compulsory sector must now be qualified to Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) Level (formerly the PGCE). We are the partnership college of Bolton University and run their PGDE/PDE programme. This is run over two years part-time or one year full-time. Students undertake voluntary or paid work in colleges, sixth forms, and training providers throughout Bolton and Greater Manchester. We have an excellent success rate and students often secure jobs when they finish the course.

Our tutors are highly qualified, with a range of occupational expertise including sixth forms and colleges and as work based assessors.  Courses are supported by the college’s VLE (Moodle), interactive whiteboards, e-streaming technology, and laptops.
