Sports
Working in the sports and fitness sector is rewarding, especially if you get a kick out of training yourself and others.
But we can’t all be Olympic champions, so what realistic job opportunities are there?
By studying our Apprenticeship course in Sport, you gain recognised qualifications and develop skills relevant to employment while you earn. You’ll come to College, but the majority of your training will take place on the job and you’ll be paid a minimum wage.
Opportunities to pursue NVQ course at Level 2 and Level 3, along with technical certificates give our Apprentices an all-round experience
This Apprenticeship contains pathways that cover many aspects of sport and leisure, from professional sport to exercise instruction to playwork, including work in leisure centres, gyms, swimming pools, stadiums and private sports clubs, as well as outdoor activity centres and adventure playgrounds.
Apprentices in this area need to be able to communicate with a broad range of people in order to motivate and instruct them.
Not all of these roles are for those who excel at sport – you don’t have to be excellent at sport to undertake an Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being Apprenticeship. As long as you’ve got a flair for management and organisation, then you could help run a leisure centre both behind the scenes and front of house.
And if you enjoy the atmosphere of large sports events then you could train in spectator safety or stewarding and work at major sporting events, festivals and local football matches.
Potential careers include:
- Leisure and sports managers
- Psychologists
- HE teaching professionals
- FE teaching professionals
