An Electrical Apprenticeship allows you to make the most of the very best setting for learning in our spacious state-of-the-art facility. You will enjoy learning in modern classrooms and purpose built workshops where you acquire the skills and training you need to shine in your job.

Our facilities also include interactive whiteboards, learning resource centres fitted out with networked computers and social areas where you can enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in between studies.

Courses for apprenticeships are usually delivered on a day-release basis that means you spend one day a week learning the underpinning knowledge related to your apprenticeship and the remaining days of your working week with your employer.

Our qualified assessors visit you at your workplace and help you to develop a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in your job.

Additionally, we have portfolio building sessions as part of your day. These involve meeting your assessor to discuss the contents of your portfolio, the evidence you have collected and generating an action plan to guide you to the completion of your portfolio.

As a student on our Electrical course you will study a range of skills and techniques including:

  • Health & safety
  • Care use and maintenance of electrical hand tools
  • Knowledge of electrical jointing techniques
  • Reading construction drawings and plans
  • Manufacture of conduit
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Safe use of portable power tools
  • Fixtures of switches and sockets
  • Handling and storage of materials and equipment

Fully qualified staff deliver the learner focused programme supplemented by regular guest speakers and trade specialists who bring a rich seam of real-life experience to the course.

The course commences at Level 2 and takes two academic years to complete. Apprentices, as part of their apprenticeship framework, will also study functional skills in English, Maths and ICT.

All our Electrical courses are taught at our Deane Road Campus in the heart of Bolton town centre. The campus is conveniently located for students travelling from Manchester and Lancashire.
