Computing & Systems Development (including Gaming) HND


This HND can help you turn your interest in computer systems and gaming into a rewarding career opportunity.

We will help you prepare to work in the computing industry by teaching you essential skills - from problem-solving to supporting individual computer users and organisations, to maintaining and managing their online systems. You will also be introduced to games development and programming, where you can use your imagination and creativity to modify and manipulate software to create animations and cutting-edge interfaces.

How will I be assessed?

Units are assessed through a range of methods, including written assessments, practical assessments, projects and presentations.

What qualification will I achieve on successful completion?

Higher National Diploma Level 5 in Computing and Systems Development (including Gaming)

Entry requirements

  • The minimum entry requirements are GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (Merit) or 1 A level grade B or above.
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma (Pass) or 2 A-levels at grade C or above
  • Applicants with industry experience but without the full set of entry requirement qualifications will be assessed to determine their suitability for the course via an interview and assessment. 

What can I do with this qualification?

Successful completion of the course allows progression onto degree courses in similar areas. You could also go on to work as a Desktop Support Engineer, IT Support Technician, Programmer/Software/Web Developer, Network Administrator or Network Engineer.

Is there anything else I need to know?

You will be able to access a laptop while you are in College during your studies.
