Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapy

Overview

This course ideal for students with Level 3 qualifications, including nurses and professionals working in industry or people who have equivalent experience at a Level 3 standard. The qualification enables you to further develop your skills in the complementary therapy field and widen your job opportunities.

This course is run as a partnership between Bolton College and Bolton University. When you register at Bolton University and Bolton College, you will be able to access the resources and facilities at both institutions. The Foundation Degree has been accredited by the University of Bolton which will enable you to progress to the top-up Degree in Health & Wellbeing.

The first two years of the Foundation Degree will be delivered at Bolton College and the top up at Bolton University.

Entry requirements

Candidates need to be aged over eighteen and meet one of the following qualification criteria:

  • Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy, Diploma in Complementary or  Holistic Therapy or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 A Levels
  • BTEC Nationals, Higher Nationals or professional qualifications in Complementary Therapies
  • Nursing qualification
  • A Level in the Health Care area

How much work is involved?

This is a two year foundation degree (four years if part-time) followed by one year (one and a half years part-time) for the top-up degree. Teaching for the full-time course requires 2.5- 3 days.
What can I do with this qualification?

This qualification will give you the skills necessary to pursue a career at supervisory or managerial level at a health spa, clinic or sales environment. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto the top-up degree or other related degree programmes.
