Performing Arts

The lure of the Performing Arts is often irresistible, but can you really make a career out of your passion for performance? Bolton College has a range of practical courses designed to help students to do just that.

We offer courses at two levels: Level 2 Diploma and the Level 3 Extended Diploma, so we’re sure to find the right level of learning for you. Our success last year was the best that we have ever had; with all of our students achieving high grade profiles, allowing them to enter university or go straight into the business. We also offer a range of support services to help you to progress with your learning.

Your course will help you to develop a high level of skills in:

• Acting styles
• Dance
• Choreography
• Acting for film and TV
• Audio acting
• Mask performance
• Circus manipulation
• Theatre in education

The emphasis is always placed on the practical application of techniques and you will always work towards performing to a paying audience.

We have a professionally-equipped, studio theatre with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, including digital desks and 48 lighting channels on the rig and at stage level. This allows students to learn both production and performance skills.

Our two dance studios are equipped with sound and video facilities and have sprung wooden floors, mirrors and ballet bars.

We are developing links with local theatres in Bolton, Manchester and the North of England. With the opening of Media City in Salford, the opportunities to work with industry specialists has never been greater.

All of our Performing Arts courses are taught at our Deane Road Campus in the heart of Bolton town centre. The campus is conveniently located for students travelling from Manchester and Lancashire.
