Metalwork Fabrication & Welding
The Metalwork Fabrication & Welding centre at Bolton College’s Horwich campus has an impressive track record, with the vast majority of students finding good jobs when they finish their training.
Our practical courses combine good resources with industry standard tutors who work flexibly to ensure learners from every background get the very best from their studies.
The welding and fabrication industry is embedded in every aspect of our lives, from the cars we drive to the construction of buildings we work in. There are many avenues to progress down once you have completed your studies.
On your training course you will learn about:
- Understanding arc welding
- Understanding weld imperfections & testing
- Understand the requirements for welding in site work locations
- Understanding weld quality
- Welding stainless steel
- Positional welding with metal arc gas
- Shielded (MAG/MIG) processes
Welding, sheet metal fabrication and engineering industries need well-trained people, capable of operating a broad range of welding equipment - including metal inert gas, tungsten inert gas, oxy acetylene and manual metal arc.
On our NVQ Welding and Fabrication courses, we use a mixture of classroom and hands-on practical work to teach you how to join different metals using appropriate welding techniques. We’ll also encourage you to progress from a basic welding ability to a more advanced level, as you gain the skills and knowledge required.
The courses on offer at Bolton College are Positional Welding Certificate Level 2, Welding & Metalwork NVQ Diploma Level 2 and Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 3.
All our Welding and Fabrication courses are taught at our Horwich Campus. This site has a car park for students and is within easy access of motorway and rail networks for students travelling from Manchester and Lancashire.
