Margaret Kay

Margaret first came back into learning in 2003 at a low time in her life when she was undergoing personal problems and had just been diagnosed with Rheumatiod arthritis.

She felt she needed something to focus on and came to join our Community Learning Ambassadors a course that was to change her life. Between then and 2008 she completed all 3 levels on the training and started to enrol on a range of child protection and child psychology courses. Margaret had found her focus in a desire to work with children.

The group run an after school club at New Bury Community Learning Centre for parents to spend quality time with their children in a supportive environment.

Margaret has encouraged many of her parents to access courses run by the college and is still enrolling on courses herself in order to widen her skills. In 2008 her work in the community was recognised by when she won a Bolton @ Home award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Voluntary Sector”.
