Beauty Showcase 2009
A Thing of Beauty
BEAUTY students from Bolton Community College have been showcasing the latest summer looks at the annual Beauty Showcase.
Students from Beauty and Nails NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3 took part in the event which included four competitions judged by top beauty and nail professionals from across the industry.
The competition categories ranged from face and body painting, where students could use their creativity and imagination to create a design of their choice, to the cover girl category where the budding beauty therapists used theatrical make up techniques to create the classic ‘cover girl’ look.
The circus themed ‘nail art’ competition saw Level 2 students designing and hand painting acrylic nails, whilst the Level 3 learners, had the added challenge of dressing their models from head-to-toe, creating the ultimate circus inspired look.

The event also included a tombola and raffle, as well as Level 3 learners offering treatments to visitors throughout the day. All proceeds went to DebRA - a national charity which works with people with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa.
Tracy Stuart, Level 2 nail coordinator and event organiser, said: “The Beauty Showcase is an annual event where students can get creative with their designs, and show off their skills to the rest of the College. The day has been a tremendous success, and I would like to thank everyone involved.”
