Financial Help

There are various ways in which you might be entitled to financial help while your son or daughter is at college:

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
The EMA is a weekly payment worth up to £30 per week. It will help cover the day-to-day costs your son or daughter may have when they come to college, such as travel, books, or equipment for their course.

To qualify for an EMA, your son or daughter must be aged 16 to 18, and your household income must be less that £30,810 a year.

Eligible learners will receive £10, £20 or £30 per week on a sliding scale, depending on your household income. Other conditions may apply, so visit the EMA website.

Learner Support

The college operates a Learner Support Fund, which is designed to help students who are having financial difficulties.

This fund offers support towards additional course costs, such as books and resources, childcare, uniforms and travel costs. It’s issued on a first-come, first-served basis to students on a low income or on income-based benefits. To apply for this fund, contact Student Services on 01204 907493 when enrolling.

When we can’t help learners directly, we will try to advise you on alternative sources of funding.
